# Editing Contacts
Contact information changes — people switch jobs, get new phone numbers, or update their email. RelayBook makes it easy to keep records current.

## How to Edit a Contact
1. Open the contact's detail view by clicking on them in the contact list
2. Click the **Edit** button
3. Update any fields — name, emails, phones, addresses, notes, custom fields
4. Click **Save** to apply changes

> Only **Members** and **Owners** can edit contacts. Viewers have read-only access. See [[Roles & Permissions]] for details.
## What You Can Edit
Every field on a contact record is editable:
- Basic info (name, company, title, birthday, website)
- Contact methods (emails, phones)
- Addresses
- Social profiles
- Relationships
- Labels
- Notes and custom fields
- Photo/avatar

## Adding and Removing Details
When editing, you can:
- **Add** additional emails, phones, or addresses
- **Remove** existing entries
- **Change labels** on multi-value fields (e.g., change an email from "Work" to "Personal")
## Deleting a Contact
To permanently remove a contact:
1. Open the contact's detail view
2. Click **Delete**
3. Confirm the deletion

> Deleting a contact removes it from the book permanently. This cannot be undone.

> Keep contacts up to date as information changes. Editing is quick and all changes are visible to everyone with access to the book.
