# Search & Filtering RelayBook's search is fast and smart. Find any contact by name, company, email, phone number, or any combination — with results ranked by relevance. > [!quote] Find Anyone, Instantly > The best contact database is the one where you can find what you need in ==seconds, not minutes==. ## How Search Works Type in the **search bar** at the top of the contact list. RelayBook searches across multiple fields simultaneously: - **Name** (first and last) - **Company** - **Email addresses** - **Phone numbers** > [!tip] Search is forgiving > RelayBook uses **fuzzy matching**, so even if you misspell a name or partially remember a company, you'll still get relevant results. ## Search Algorithms RelayBook combines multiple search methods for the best results: 1. **Full-text search** → matches whole words and phrases across contact records 2. **Fuzzy matching** → finds similar spellings and partial matches on names and companies 3. **Pattern matching** → searches email addresses and phone numbers with partial matching Results are **ranked** with the most relevant matches appearing first. ## Filtering ### Filter by Label Click any **label** in the sidebar to show only contacts with that label. This is the fastest way to narrow down a book. ### Filter by Starred Toggle the **Star filter** to show only your [[Starring Contacts|starred contacts]]. ### Combine Filters You can combine: - **Search text** + **Label filter** → find "Smith" within "VIP" contacts - **Star filter** + **Label filter** → starred contacts with a specific label ## Sorting Change how contacts are ordered: | Sort Option | Description | |------------|-------------| | **Last Updated** | Most recently modified first (default) | | **Name** | Alphabetical by name | | **Company** | Alphabetical by company | | **Date Created** | Newest contacts first | ## Pagination Contact lists are **paginated** for performance: - **50 contacts per page** by default (up to 100) - Navigate between pages at the bottom of the list - Search and filters apply across all pages > [!success] The Key Idea > Search is your fastest tool.
