# Email relay capture
Every RelayBook account has a unique relay email address. Forward any email containing contact information to it, and RelayBook automatically captures that contact into your Import Inbox -- no copy-pasting required.
> [!quote] Your inbox as an import tool
> When someone's contact details land in your email, don't retype them. ==Forward the message and RelayBook does the rest==.
## What is the relay address?
Your relay address is a unique email address assigned to your account. It looks like:
```
[email protected]
```
Anything forwarded to this address is parsed for contact information and added to your [[Import Inbox]] for review.
## Finding your relay address
1. Click your **profile icon** in the top-right corner
2. Go to **Account Settings**
3. Find the **Relay Email** section
4. Copy your relay address
Your relay address never changes. You can save it as a contact in your own email client so it's easy to forward to.
## How to use it
**Forward any email that contains contact details** -- an email signature, an introduction email, a meeting request, a newsletter -- and RelayBook will extract the contact and add it to your Import Inbox.
1. Receive an email with a contact's details
2. Forward that email to your relay address
3. Open your **Import Inbox** in RelayBook
4. Review the captured contact and move it to a book
That's it. No form to fill in, no CSV to prepare.
> [!tip] Email signatures
> The relay address works especially well with email signatures. A single forwarded email is often enough to capture a full contact -- name, email, phone, company, and job title.
## What gets captured
RelayBook parses the forwarded email and extracts:
| Field | Captured from |
|-------|--------------|
| **Name** | Signature block, sender name |
| **Email** | Signature block, sender address |
| **Phone** | Signature block, body text |
| **Company** | Signature block |
| **Job title** | Signature block |
Extraction is best-effort. The more structured the email signature, the more fields RelayBook can reliably capture. Always review the contact in your Import Inbox before moving it to a book.
## Where captured contacts land
Forwarded contacts go directly to your **personal Import Inbox** -- not into any book. This gives you a chance to:
- Verify the extracted details are correct
- Fill in any fields that weren't captured
- Choose which book to move the contact into
See [[Import Inbox]] for how to review and move contacts from there.
## Limitations
- **One contact per forward.** Each forwarded email captures a single contact. To import many contacts at once, use [[CSV Import]] instead.
- **Extraction is not guaranteed.** Heavily formatted HTML emails, image-based signatures, or unusual layouts may result in partial captures. Check the contact before moving it to a book.
- **The relay address is personal.** It is tied to your account, not a book. Contacts captured this way go into your inbox, not a team member's.
- **Forwarding only.** The relay address is for incoming email only -- you cannot send email from it.
> [!success] The Key Idea
> Your relay address turns your email inbox into an import tool. Spot a useful contact in an email, forward it, and the contact lands in RelayBook ready to review. No manual entry needed.
