# Interactions
Interactions let you track every touchpoint with a contact — calls, emails, meetings, and notes. Over time, this builds a **timeline** of your relationship history.
> [!quote] Every Conversation Counts
> The best relationships are built on ==memory and follow-through==. Logging interactions means nothing gets forgotten.
## What is an Interaction?
An interaction is a logged event tied to a specific contact. Each interaction has:
| Field | Description |
|-------|-------------|
| **Type** | Call, Email, Meeting, or Note |
| **Summary** | A description of what happened |
| **Logged by** | The team member who created the entry |
| **Logged at** | The timestamp of when it was recorded |
## Interaction Types
### Call
Log phone calls, video calls, or voice messages.
- *"Discussed Q3 budget and timeline"*
- *"Quick check-in, they're happy with the service"*
### Email
Record important email exchanges.
- *"Sent proposal for website redesign"*
- *"Received signed contract"*
### Meeting
Track in-person or virtual meetings.
- *"Quarterly business review at their office"*
- *"Onboarding call with their team"*
### Note
Capture any other information or context.
- *"Met at trade show, interested in our enterprise plan"*
- *"Prefers email over phone"*
## How to Log an Interaction
1. Open a contact's detail view
2. Click **Add Interaction**
3. Select the **type** (Call, Email, Meeting, or Note)
4. Write a **summary** of what happened
5. Save
The interaction is added to the contact's timeline with your name and timestamp.
## Viewing the Timeline
Each contact has an **interaction timeline** — a chronological list of all logged interactions:
- Most recent interactions appear first
- Each entry shows the type, summary, who logged it, and when
- The timeline grows as your team adds more interactions
> [!tip] Team visibility
> Everyone with access to the book can see the interaction timeline. This means your whole team stays informed about relationship history — even if they weren't part of the original conversation.
## Deleting an Interaction
**Members** and **Owners** can delete interactions they no longer need:
1. Find the interaction in the timeline
2. Click **Delete**
3. Confirm
> [!note] Permanent action
> Deleted interactions cannot be recovered.
## Who Can Log Interactions?
| Role | View Interactions | Create Interactions | Delete Interactions |
|------|------------------|--------------------|--------------------|
| Viewer | Yes | No | No |
| Member | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Owner | Yes | Yes | Yes |
## Why Track Interactions?
- **Continuity** → new team members can see the full relationship history
- **Accountability** → know who contacted whom and when
- **Follow-up** → never forget to follow up on a conversation
- **Context** → understand the relationship before your next meeting
> [!success] The Key Idea
> Interactions build a shared memory for your team. Log every meaningful touchpoint and you'll always have context for the next conversation.
