# Inviting Members Bring your team into a shared book by sending email invitations. Each invitee gets a role that defines what they can do. > [!quote] Collaboration Starts with an Invite > The best contact data is ==shared contact data==. Invite your team so everyone works from the same source of truth. ## How to Invite Someone 1. Open the book you want to share 2. Click the **Members** or **Invite** button 3. Enter the person's **email address** 4. Choose their **role**: Viewer, Member, or Owner 5. Click **Send Invitation** The invitee receives an email with a link to join the book. > [!note] Owner-only action > Only **Owners** can invite new members to a book. If you need to invite someone and you're a Member or Viewer, ask a book Owner. ## How Invitations Work - Each invitation generates a **unique token** - The invitation link is **valid for 7 days** - The invitee can accept via the email link or from within the app - Once accepted, they immediately have access to the book with their assigned role ## Viewing Pending Invitations Owners can see all pending invitations for a book: 1. Open the book 2. Go to **Members** 3. Pending invitations are listed separately from active members ## What if the Invitee Doesn't Have an Account? If the person doesn't have a RelayBook account: - They'll need to **sign up** first - After creating their account, they can accept the invitation - The invitation link guides them through this process ## Invitation Expiry > [!tip] 7-day window > Invitations expire after **7 days**. If someone misses the window, simply send a new invitation. ## Role Selection Guide Choose the right role when inviting: | Role | Best for | |------|----------| | **Viewer** | People who need to reference contacts but not change them | | **Member** | Team members who actively manage contacts | | **Owner** | Co-managers who need full control over the book | See [[Roles & Permissions]] for the full permissions breakdown. > [!success] The Key Idea > Invitations are the gateway to collaboration.
